“Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” says the LORD. ![]() He makes me to lie down in green pastures ![]() And you shall give some of your authority to him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient. Then Moses spoke to the LORD, saying: "Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, who may go out before them and go in before them, who may lead them out and bring them in, that the congregation of the LORD may not be like sheep which have no shepherd." And the LORD said to Moses: "Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and inaugurate him in their sight. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.Īnd He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head-Christ-įor you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”Īnd I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 'Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?' He said to Him, 'Yes, Lord You know that I love You.' He said to him, 'Feed My lambs.' He said to him again a second time, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?' He said to Him, 'Yes, Lord You know that I love You.' He said to him, 'Tend My sheep.' He said to him the third time, 'Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?' Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, 'Do you love Me?' And he said to Him, 'Lord, You know all things You know that I love You.' Jesus said to him, 'Feed My sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice and there will be one flock and one shepherd. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father and I lay down My life for the sheep. I am the good shepherd and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. ![]() The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.
